Characters

 Hello future writers.

Since characters are one part of creating stories, it is really important to have all information about them before you start writing your book.

WRONG!

I wrote my scenes without knowing all the character information. My team of detectives. All I knew of them were that there was the leader of the boss, the main character - rookie, a female detective etc. Since I had to write out the basic conversations, I used the description of a character or his title in the book such as: "...." the boss of the team said.     "..." the brown haired detective crossed his arms.

This is a technique so you don't have to always use their names and also the word said.

The next step in my preptober was to have some information about my characters and so I started with name and used a generator or names that I liked and had some meaning.

Second step was how would the characters look like? I described them into my character profile in my bullet journal and used hair color and style, skin color, ethnicity, education, clothing style.

One of the hardest steps is background information. I had a lot of problem with this one. But I put a whiteboard next to my bed and wrote out the character names and BUM. A muse slapped me across my face. I wrote 2 sentences about why they became detectives and their family situation.

The only part that I need is the personality, which will be a hard step. I have an idea who will act how and I wrote a few personality traits into their profile, but that is only a beginning and I am definitely going to have to develop my character personality while drafting.
