The silver light of the moon rays from the full moon was shining on the streets of Los Angeles, also known as the City of Angeles. Most known for people coming here to fulfill their dreams of becoming famous, doing anything possible to carry out their dreams, some people get to become famous and rich, while some pure angels become fallen as they experience the dark side of Los Angeles.
The neighborhood of Encino was painted in the dark colors of the pitch-black night and the yellow color of the streetlights, that were flickering every few minutes, sometime quicker and sometimes slower, just for this night.
It created the atmosphere of abandonment that people liked this time of the year.
The streets of the city, Los Angeles and the Encino neighborhood were decorated with bones, scattered across the front yards and orange pumpkins that shone with the candlelight. The orange carved pumpkins of all sizes were by every door of the houses on the streets and old looking plastic bones were thrown around the gardens in the whole neighborhood in no particular order. The streets were decorated will skeletons and other decorations that were supposed to incite fear into the hearts of the people walking around.
The big round shape of the white full moon, hanging in the night sky surrounded by stars, was the only constant light source for the Morrison street. People, that lived on this street could hear the cawing from the black crows, all night, that sat in the treetop of the multiple trees that had grown between the houses. The houses on this particular street were almost all the same. They were painted the same light and dark gray colors, all of them had two floors with white fences around the garden. Their gardens were full of beautiful and colorful flowers and lively green grass. All of the houses had one garage that had only one place for a car and their second car was parked in front of the garage. Of course, this time of the month, their houses changed.
The midnight cold wind swept through the street, sweeping with it brown leafs that fell of the trees and with it, a terrified scream that rang through the Morrison street, but none of the people, walking on the street, reacted to it. It wasn't the only scream that happened this time of the year and so it was nothing unusual, for people to hear it. On the street a lot of screams were made by the young people that were scared by the decorations around the houses.
Thought the atmosphere of the streets and its decorations indicated abandonment, they were full of small feet of little creatures that yearly dressed up in costumes for the All Hallows Eve. Their feet making sound on the pavement as they skipped happily from one house to another. The little kids were dressed in costumes that represented real figures in life or fictional characters.
Another cold wind went through the street, the parents only tightened their hold on their jackets and tried to convince their little kids to put their jackets on, over the Halloween costume. Not believing that their little off-springs were not cold in the thin materials. A lot of the small girls were dressed as princesses in pink dresses, fairies and little goddesses, while the boys were in costumes that represented superheroes from their favorite comic books or they were dressed according to their dream jobs such as firefighters, doctors and policemen. For this night of the year, they could be anyone they wanted. The little creatures were escorted, by their parents or older siblings, from a decorated house to another one and knocking on their doors asking for sweet treats, that they put into their decorated buckets. That were in the shapes of pumpkins, all different in colors.
A princess in a pink dress and her little brother, Superman, with their parents, that were dressed in costumes too for the sake of their children, were walking to the next house, the only one that was not decorated as the rest of the houses on the street. Pieces of toilet paper were thrown on the tree and the house didn't have any carved pumpkins or any bones in the garden. Its walls were dark and light gray, the front yard had lots of colorful flowers planted. No one could be seen in the house even though the windows have shown that the lights were on inside.
“Come, lets go to the other houses.” The mother of the two children said. The house was giving of a different feeling then the other houses.
“No, mommy. I wanna go to this one. It smells nice.” The little girl, she could have no more than seven years, pointed with her right hand to the house with no Halloween decorations.
“Yes, I wanna go there too.” Her little five year old brother said, jumping on his feet and tucking his father’s hand in that direction. The two parents looked at each other. Normally, they would not listen to the demands from their children, but they had to admit that this night was different from all the other ones and so they slowly walked to the front door.
“Alright, honey. But we will go quickly, so we can stop at the other houses where the nice ladies give you more candy.” Their dad put his hand on his daughters hair and lightly petted it.
“Daddy, you will ruin my hair.” The little princess complained and her father quickly withdraw his hand from her hair.
The little kids wanted to go to the house even if it was not decorated, only because they could smell the amazing aroma which came from the opened window of the house. It was the smell of chocolate cupcakes. The parents and their kids knocked on the front door, but none answered. They all listened in front of the door but all they heard was silence coming from the house.
“I am sorry, princess. I guess no one is home.” Said the father of the little girl and her brother and so they went to the next house looking to enlarge their sweet treasure. Forgetting about the house with no decorations.
No one knew, that inside the house a person lay on the ground, taking her last breath. Her blood spilled all around her on the floor. The atmosphere of the street darkened as it was marked with the leaving of a young soul.
Thank you again for this help.
With love, Misha.
