Hello, Future writers,
Last post was on my planning in September and the spreads I like to use in my bullet journal. Of course, you aren’t really interested in the normal everyday planning, but in the planning of a writer. And basically, how to stay organized while writing multiple projects.
So, I am gonna tell you (more like write here) how I keep my journal for writers organized and what I keep in it. For examples I am gonna be using pages from my old 2019/2020 journal where I keep my first ever outline of my book.
First, I had a writer’s journal page with palm leaves that were not colored, because I color them when I want to draw:
Then I have two pages that tell me what to do if I don’t know what to write or if I start at a new page:
These I got from my favorite site that I go to, if I want to inspire me - pinterest.com
After the character flaws, I have my first scene outline that I mentioned in my Outlining post and the last pages in my writers bujo are character list, setting list and basic character profiles.
As you can see, on the first list there are a few characters written with pencil and other with pen. That is because I still don't know if I am going to keep the names I gave them. Then there is the position in the book, such as detective, victim, etc. and a simple description of the characters so, I don't have to always use their names when writing:
- "I don't know what happened!" yelled Niko.
- "I don't know what happened." yelled the young blue-eyed detective.
After the description, I will write in which chapter and scene the character can be seen.
This is a Setting list in my bujo. Right now, it is blank because I am still deciding where the story is going to be, but I highly recommend having this one.
This is my basic character profile for now, where I write a simple description of the character that I need for my main plot. The background information and conflicts I will add later when I can focus on the sub-plot.
If you are like other writers and have a lot of open projects, I recommend having a binder with dividers for each project or one big binder.
Please subscribe to my blog and comment if you are using a bujo to keep track of your writing like me and what spreads you use. My next post will be on motivation and making a schedule for writing.
