Hello future writers.
Tomorrow is the first day of October, which means the start of preparing for NaNoWriMo. Yes, I am participating in NaNoWriMo and continuing my detective novel - The Murder of the Housewife, which I started outlining in June 2020 and participated in camp with it. Leah56982 is my nickname on the page and if you want you can add me as a buddy.
My future goals for this month is to make sure that I have as much information about my characters and settings, so I can add them into the story and hopefully add the second plot - the personal life of the main character.
In this month I will tell you some things that I need to figure out for my book.
The first thing is all the locations in Los Angeles and their descriptions, which I will discuss in a later post. But the main thing are character descriptions, their names and definitely their backstories with sub-plots.
Possible spoilers ahead:
One of my biggest problems right now is figuring out the backstory of my main character Niko, who is a rookie detective in a private company that has a contract with the city. Since he is a detective, the city and company had to do a background check and here is the problem, since Niko’s family is one of the mafia that rule Los Angeles.
And here is the problem if they knew about his family they would definitely not hire him. A few days ago I thought about the possibility of adoption, but another problem came up with this solution. I want him to know his parents and family to a certain point of his growing up.
If any of you have suggestions about this problem or any locations that could be in my book or scenes that are a must-have in a good detective story, please don't hesitate with writing a comment.
